Sports eyewear manufacturer Bollé has released the Sport Protective eyewear collection for young athletes.

The collection, which last month was awarded a Silmo d’Or award in the sports category, has been created to fill what the company said was a gap in the market for a fully-certified frame and lens combination.

Frames and lenses in the range are certified, with and without prescription, to European EN166 and American ASTMF803 standards, the latter featuring specific impact tests in different categories. A Bollé spokesperson said Sport Protective was the only certified frame and lens combination available.

A newly-developed co-injected construction was said to increase both the absorption and resistance to impact. The process has done away with any chemical bonding agents, which Bollé said greatly reduced the risk of allergic reactions and heat-induced separation. Lenses feature an anti-scratch coating and anti-fog properties.
