U2 lead singer Bono tonight reveals to chat show host Graham Norton his trademark sunglasses are worn because he has glaucoma.
Bono, asked during an interview with the band whether he ever takes the sunglasses off, told Norton: ‘This is a good place to explain to people that I’ve had glaucoma for the last 20 years. I have good treatments and I am going to be fine.’
The Irish rock star wears tinted glasses for both on- and off-stage appearances.
He added: ‘You’re not going to get this out of your head now and you will be saying, “Ah, poor old blind Bono”.’
The Graham Norton Show recording with U2 will be aired on BBC One tonight at 10.30pm.
