B+L acquires J&J’s Blink brand

Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has acquired Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Blink brand of over the counter (OTC) eye and contact lens drops for $106.5m.

John Ferris, executive vice president for consumer at B+L, said: ‘There’s a growing need for relieving the symptoms of dry eyes and dry contact lenses and OTC products are often the first option consumers choose. The addition of Blink expands our robust portfolio of OTC eye care brands, enabling us to provide more choices for consumers and eye care professionals.’

This acquisition follows B+L’s agreement with Novartis to acquire its Xiidra brand of non-steroid eye drops that were approved to treat symptoms of dry eye disease.
