Bus drivers in Aberdeen have been able to experience the barriers blind and partially sighted passengers face when travelling by trying on special ‘sim specs’ which simulate eye conditions.
The latest swap-with-me training event is just one of many ran by Stagecoach North Scotland as part of the bus operator’s pledge to RNIB to make its services more accessible to blind and partially sighted people.
RNIB Scotland deputy director James Adams said: ‘We think if drivers are more aware of the problems people with sight loss face they will take that extra bit of time to ensure they can make their journey confidently.’
