Shamir Optical Industry, the Israeli business which bought Cambridge Optical last September, has improved its revenue from $15.5m to $20.7m for the first quarter of 2005. Shamir, the first kibbutz-owned enterprise to be listed on America's Nasdaq achieved net profit of $1.9m and is to increase its presence in the European contact lens market through Cambridge Optical.
