Capital expansion for Health Clinic

The Eye Clinic, whose parent company Health Clinic floated on the Stock Exchange this summer, is set to expand in London.

The business, which is aiming to offer a much wider choice of health services than previously, has acquired two more sites in the capital to add to the three it already has in central London. Its commercial property services company, NAI Gooch Webster, has confirmed that the Health Clinic has bought two 15-year leases on Kensington High Street W14, and Eastcheap EC3. Gooch Webster director Sean Varilone said: 'The company, which is at the quality end of the UK optical industry, has an expansion plan to increase its national network over the coming five years. 'The continuing requirement is for strategic city centre locations to supplement the existing portfolio.' The Kensington site, which covers 2,535sq ft, has a rent agreed at &\#163;190,000 per year, while the 3,142sq ft Eastcheap outlet has a rental of &\#163;150,000 per annum. The other three London Eye Clinics are in Regent Street, Cheapside and Shaftesbury Avenue. The Health Clinic has stated that it will open six city centre outlets per year during the next decade, and 50 sites have been targeted in the UK (News, June 30). NAI Gooch Webster said this week that the legal formalities were also progressing for sites in Cardiff, Reading and Birmingham.
