A SpaMedica survey of 3,000 people revealed ‘drastic improvements’ in quality of life for patients after they had cataract surgery with the ophthalmology service provider.
Only 5% of people considered their life quality to be ‘very good’ before they underwent a cataract procedure, which rose to 48% afterwards and a further 40% describing their life quality as ‘good’.
Cataract patients said their quality of life was ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ (35%) before their procedure and highlighted struggles when watching the TV, reading and driving.
Alex Silvester, medical director at SpaMedica, said: ‘It’s wonderful to hear that so many of our patients are happy with the outcome of their surgery and that their vision - and general wellbeing - are much improved because of it.’
