Celebrities join

Actors Jeremy Irons and supermodel Heidi Klum both wore DKNY aviators at the 'Cure by the Shore' gala for the National Women's Cancer Research Alliance last month.

Marchon Eyewear supported the gala event which was held on May 17 during the Cannes Film Festival and televised live on QVC. It was hosted by actress Sela Ward and attended by celebrities. Marchon has helped raise more than $150,000 (&\#163;99,000) over the past three years by donating sunglasses from the Calvin Klein, Nautica and DKNY ranges. The company has also announced the winners of its Flexon promotions which were launched earlier in the year to support the Flexon TV 2000 advertising campaign. It said the 'The Flexon Twist 21' competition was particularly popular with practice staff. Jenny Hartfield from Barnards Optometrists in Hove won the first prize of a weekend for two at London's Mayfair Hotel, &\#163;500 and a night at the Palm Beach Casino. The runners-up, Roy Gill Opticians in Essex, Crockford Mills Opticians in Middlesex and PLM Optometrists in Fife, each won a Panasonic DVD player. The practices selected for the Flexon Window Display competition received 10 Fuji Instax cameras for its staff. Leightons in Christchurch won the 'Flexon for the Family' category and Owl Optical in Wigan won the 'Flexon for Him' category. MD Gray Opticians in Staffordshire received a highly commended for the latter and also won the 'Good Looking Flexon' category. Customers were asked to twist a pair of Flexon frames and fill in an entry form to take part in the 'Do The Flexon Twist' promotion. Marchon's managing director Andy Skitmore said: 'We are really pleased with the number of entries we received. Practices across the country were full of enthusiasm and we had a hard job selecting the winners of the Window Display competition.'
