Runners have so far raised more than £17,000 this year for blindness research charity Fight for Sight.
They raised nearly £14,000 at this yearÕs Flora London Marathon, and more than £3,000 at the British Golden Jubilee 10km Race.
Fundraising officer Denise Courtney said: ÔWe are delighted that so many people chose to run for Fight for Sight this year. Completing these races and raising such a lot of sponsorship money takes masses of commitment. We really appreciate their support for our research into blinding eye disease.Õ
The runners included a trainee ophthalmologist, two runners from Dollond & Aitchison, a man who has undergone treatment for glaucoma since he was an infant, and a teacher whose brother has retinitis pigmentosa.
