A meeting between optometrists and people with a learning disability from Bradford was organised by charity SeeAbility in a bid to ensure that people with learning disabilities access appropriate eye care.

The meeting at Douglas Mill in Bradford over a curry dinner gave people with learning disabilities the opportunity to talk about eye tests and raise some of the issues which they believe need to be addressed to provide better eye care.

Peter Smith and Robert Wardle who both have learning disabilities and work at Bradford People First (BPF) advocacy service, spoke about the importance of communication. They also explained the concerns that people with learning disabilities have about eye tests and highlighted ways optometrists could make tests easier for them.
