CL hearing adjourned

GOC hearing over unsupervised CL sales is adjourned until September

The legal hearing to consider a GOC prosecution over alleged contact lens sales without supervision which took place at Hendon Magistrates Court last Thursday has been adjourned until early September.

Vision Direct UK, of Ballards Lane, Finchley, London N3, faces six summonses under Section 27 of the Opticians Act between May 3 and 18, 2007.

The Council alleges contact lenses were sold by the company without checking specification and without the supervision of an optometrist or a doctor.

However, Optician understands that the parent company, Vision Direct, which is based in Holland will argue that the GOC has no jurisdiction to bring the case against them as a foreign company.
