David Clulow Opticians founder donates his optical book collection

David Clulow Opticians founder David Clulow recently took time out from his botanical garden and monkey rescue centre in Venezuela to donate his optical book collection to the School of Optometry in Caracas.

‘I shall be 80 on my next birthday, so no longer need these books. Before I left England, I gave the library of the British College of Optometrists my rarest optical books, but still had plenty for Caracas including my earliest contact lens book the 1945 Contact Lenses by Frank Dickinson and Clifford-Hall,’ said Clulow, pictured second left with senior lecturers at the school.

Clulow moved to Venezuela 23 years ago to start a tropical botanic garden specialising in rare fruits and palms.

He has since opened a monkey rescue centre, housing mainly howler monkeys and a few capuchins.

Clulow has also agreed to give a talk at the school on how best to attract patients to practice.
