David Clulow managing director Richard Peck presented a £35,000 cheque to Moorfields Eye Hospital chief executive John Pelly for the hospital's development fund last week.
The money, raised in Clulow's practices over the past year through sponsored events and collection boxes, has been used to purchase a kinetic perimeter for the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre. This key instrument will be used for diagnosis, ongoing care and research and is suitable for use with younger children because of its speed and interactivity. It will determine the extent of vision loss, so that treatment can begin as soon as possible and enables staff to judge the effectiveness of treatments.
Pelly said: 'We are grateful to Richard Peck, the staff at David Clulow Opticians and all their customers for their support of Moorfields Eye Hospital. Charitable support is vitally important to the trust, allowing us to add further value to the already excellent services we provide to our patients.'
Peck praised the generosity of staff, customers and suppliers, describing the money-raising as a good effort and a huge amount, adding that Clulow would continue to be involved with Moorfields.
