
Optometrist Denise Voon has been appointed as a clinical adviser by the College of Optometrists and will develop the professional body’s support, guidance and CPD offering.
The College’s new clinical adviser started her career at a high street multiple and has worked in a hospital setting as well as carrying out locum work at an independent practice.
Voon said optometrists have a greater role to play in eye care, both in primary and secondary settings, and the College needed to support practitioners as demands changed.
‘I am excited about the future of the profession. There are so many opportunities for optometrists, particularly as the population ages and the prevalence of conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration increases, putting a strain on the hospital eye service,’ she said.
