Dr Peter Allen of Anglia Ruskin University received the Neil Charman Medal for Research from Professor Edward Mallen, University of Bradford, (left) at The College of Optometrists’ annual diploma ceremony last week.
Five Research Excellence awards were presented, while 260 newly qualified optometrists were welcomed into the profession.
Dr Allen was recognised for his investigation into the links between vision and reading difficulties.
He said: ‘The College has always been a committed supporter of optometric research, and awards like this show how much it values the endeavours of those working in the field. I am both delighted and proud to be here and hope that I and the other award winners may in some way inspire the young newly qualified optometrists graduating here today.’
