Delegate voting will play a major part in a new cycle of regional events organised by the College of Optometrists.
College fellow Professor Bruce Evans was confirmed as the opening speaker for the events with a case-based presentation titled ‘Vote now…and stop orthoptic cases from keeping you awake at night!’.
Voting pads will be handed out at the 26 regional events, which start in Leicester on September 15 and run until July, the College announced.
Professor Evans will describe a number of binocular vision case studies based on real patients seen in a community optometric practice, and ask delegates to vote on the diagnosis, treatment and management of the cases presented.
He said: ‘This lecture will help delegates understand the diagnosis of binocular vision anomalies and appreciate and reflect upon the indications for referral, eye exercises, refractive or prismatic correction, and occlusion.
‘In some of the case studies presented, more than one management option will be relevant and I hope that the interactive nature of my lecture will encourage attendees to challenge their preconceptions and to accept that a spectrum of clinical opinion is often acceptable.’
