Conlons climb raises thousands

Conlons Opticians has presented North West Cancer Research (NWCR) with a cheque for £5,500 after it completed a camping and walking trip in Hawkshead and the Lake District National Park.

A team from the chain's 17 practices completed the feat during September and also marked its 130th anniversary.

Conlons Opticians managing director John Welsby, pictured with Anne Jackson, chief executive of NWCR, said: 'We wanted to mark our momentous year with a challenge and support a local charity so for every pound raised Conlons Opticians has matched the sponsorship. NWCR funds vital research projects to help us understand cancer so we are thrilled to have raised the money and hope it will make a real difference.'
