Consultant surgeon appointed by Optegra

Alastair Stuart will work at Optegra's Surrey and Hampshire hospitals

Optegra has appointed Alastair Stuart as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at its Surrey and Hampshire hospitals as the company looked to increase its NHS cataract and private vision correction services.

Stuart, who specialised in cataract and refractive surgery, joined from London Vision Clinic and trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

He also had a role as honorary lecturer at Ulster University, worked at Zeiss and in a consultancy role for Rayner.

Amir Hamid, medical director at Optegra, said: ‘We were impressed by Alastair’s formal refractive training which really makes him stand out; plus his proven expertise having carried out over 2,000 surgeries to date.’
