CooperVision cuts its distribution centres

Contact lens manufacturer CooperVision is relocating the activities of two centres based in and around Southampton to a new £17m site at Delta Park near Fareham, Hampshire to handle all UK distribution and the global distribution of lenses manufactured in the UK.

Contact lens manufacturer CooperVision is relocating the activities of two centres based in and around Southampton to a new £17m site at Delta Park near Fareham, Hampshire to handle all UK distribution and the global distribution of lenses manufactured in the UK.

A spokesperson for the company said that the UK rationalisation would not lead to significant job changes and that it was a natural part of the merger with Ocular Sciences in 2005. The state-of-the-art centre was an opportunity to bring in the latest thinking and technology, with a single site realising the ambition of a high level of service. In addition the company is opening a northern European site in Liege.
