CotiVision secures investment on Dragons' Den

Its co-founders made a successful pitch on Dragons' Den

Co-founders of CotiVision, Julie Hawkins and Nancy Gries, successfully pitched their necklace reading glass and chains business to Deborah Meaden on BBC One’s Dragons’ Den.

In the episode, which was broadcast on April 22, CotiVision asked for £50,000 in return for 10% of the business in order to explore opportunities outside of the optical industry.

Hawkins and Gries explained that they required investment and knowledge from a Dragon to fast track through new markets, including fashion and online.

Deborah Meaden was the only Dragon to make an offer for all of the money and 20% of the business, which CotiVision accepted.

‘Having been a reading glass wearer Nancy and Julie’s explanation of why they came up with CotiVision really hit home. It seemed to me they were bringing an important bit of everyday kit out of the dullness and into the light,’ Meaden said.
