To raise money for optical charity Optometry Giving Sight's World Sight Day Challenge, the Gosforth Eye Company in Newcastle opened its doors for a coffee morning. Optometrist Angela Henderson's eye-themed cupcakes helped the practice reach its target of £250.
OO Katrina Venerus commented: 'We have supported the World Sight Day Challenge for three years since we established the practice. We aimed to raise at least £250 which will provide 100 people with an eye exam and a pair of glasses, and the coffee morning has allowed us to achieve that target.'
Dispensing assistant Denise Porter added: 'To us the World Sight Day Challenge is important because we feel that it is the right of all people to have access to eye care, especially in countries where it is not as accessible as it is in the UK.'
