Daily disposable contact lens maker daysoft has clocked up in excess of £1m in sales through its website in its first year in business, largely because of growing dissatisfaction with the customer service standards of the major multiple chains.

Daily disposable contact lens maker daysoft has clocked up in excess of £1m in sales through its website in its first year in business, largely because of growing dissatisfaction with the customer service standards of the major multiple chains.

According to chairman, Ron Hamilton, sales from the daysoft website jumped 78 per cent in the first quarter of 2007, compared with the first quarter in 2006.

He told Optician: 'Feedback from our customers suggests that there is a perception of a less than desirable service by these companies (multiples). Our figures suggest that only a minority of customers (5 per cent) come from independents, suggesting that they are continuing to excel in customer service and deliver on customer expectations.'
