Daily disposable contact lens maker Daysoft has announced profits up more than 180 per cent for 2009 and a big expansion of its business.
Founder Ron Hamilton said such performance in the current economic situation proved that its adoption of a daily disposable-only policy and its business model struck a chord with contact lens wearers.
During 2009 Daysoft saw sales increase 38 per cent to £6.2m and profits increase 188 per cent to £860,000. Capital investment in the year was more than £2.6m and the number of employees rose by 58 to 170.
During the year Daysoft started a French language version of its consumer website which has gained it new customers in France and Quebec and it has plans to repeat that success with more languages in the future.
