The deadline for entering the awards is May 29. This will be the fourth year the competition has been held to recognise and reward the profession's achievers. The winners will be presented with their prizes at a prestigious ceremony at the London Hilton hotel in Park Lane on September 17. This year there are nine categories, and entry forms were sent out from the beginning of April. The Contribution to Optics Award, sponsored by Specsavers, is presented to the individual nominated by readers, and agreed by the Eye Care Awards judging panel, as having made the most significant contribution to the profession and industry during the past 12 months. A nomination form appears on page 32 of this week's issue. Last year the award went to Nathan Efron, professor of clinical optometry at Umist, as well as founding director of Eurolens Research, a member of the General Optical Council and president of the British Contact Lens Association. Nominations for this award, must reach optician's offices by July 31.
