Brulimar Optical Group has partnered with snooker world champion Dennis Taylor to create two lightweight modern frames for snooker and billiards inspired by the ‘upside down’ glasses worn when he won the 1985 world title at the Crucible Theatre

Both of the supra-style models, which Taylor helped design, are available in black and dark gunmetal colours, with a matt finish to eliminate glare. Fronts are constructed from stainless steel while temples are made from flexible and lightweight TR90. Temples also feature spring hinges and a Dennis Taylor signature. Silicone nose pads ensure good grip on the nose.

On how his famous glasses were developed, Taylor said: ‘I always took off my glasses to play and I had a fair amount of success but I had pretty poor eyesight. In 1979 I tried a new type of contact lenses from Germany and almost won the world championship, but they weren’t right; my astigmatisms made the balls look like rugby balls.’
