Chandrashekhar Chawan, an Indian optometrist from Mumbai, has developed contact lenses embedded with diamonds and gold. The La Ser range features four lens designs: white gold and yellow gold - each available with diamonds if gold is not quite lavish enough for the patient. At nearly £10,000 per eye, the lenses are not cheap, but for every pair sold, a patient with Stevens-Johnson syndrome will be treated for free at Chawan's Shekhar Eye Research Centre.
