Could Specsavers have already smoothed the path for Liverpool FC's chance to defend its UEFA Champions League title?

As OPTICIAN readers will know from last month, the multiple's Liverpool Lord Street branch came to the rescue of burly UEFA boss Lennart Johansson (right), seen here with practice director Stephen Bryan, when he forgot his spectacles prior to the semi-final clash in the city.

Officially right now, the Merseyside club cannot enter the competition. However, it is well known that Johansson is a forceful voice in the sport - and if the reds are allowed in, will the Guernsey company take some of the credit?
