Ex-Specsavers director joins Vision Express

Jerry Lewis, the former Specsavers director who was instrumental in expanding the group from 120 outlets to 335, has joined Vision Express.

Mr Lewis left Specsavers in May 1997 to join US-based Sterling Optical as president. His new appointment is to the board of GrandVision - Vision Express' French owner - as countrywide manager for the UK. A dispensing optician, Mr Lewis has worked for Bausch & Lomb and American Optical. He will take responsibility for the performance and development of Vision Express in the UK, as well as its franchisees and Grand Optical. GrandVision chairman, Daniel Abittan, said: 'This has been an exciting year for the Grand Vision Group and we feel that Jerry will make a substantial contribution.'
