Eye-App simplifies toric lens fit

Bausch+Lomb (B+L) has launched a toric Eye-App calculator for the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch devices to help practitioners fit toric lenses.

B+L reported that the application assisted practitioners calculating which toric contact lens to fit when correcting specific astigmatic prescriptions.

According to B+L, using the tool involves three steps. The first is to set the spectacle refraction, which results in recommendation for trial lenses. The next step is to adjust any lens rotation seen during the trial on the tool, and if required, the back vertex distance. The Eye-App instantly provides a list of recommended lenses as well as the calculated theoretical power at the corneal plane.
