Eyespace achieves B Corp status

British frame supplier Eyespace had become a Certified B Corporation after an 18-month assessment period covering sustainability, governance, employees, community and environmental impact.

Eyespace was now one of only 7,351 businesses across 92 countries and one of a handful of suppliers in the optical industry to achieve the qualification.

Jayne Abel, CEO and co-founder at Eyespace, said: ‘This certification serves as testament to our unwavering commitment towards sustainability and strengthening the Eyespace culture and community as we work together to use business as a resoundingly strong force for good.

‘We are delighted to be participating in a growing global movement striving for positive change and to receive this recognition through B Corp, which is one of the world’s most stringent voluntary certifications for environmental and social impact, is incredibly rewarding for each one of our Eyespace colleagues.’

Eyespace introduced sustainable products within each of their collections in 2019 and have since set a target to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

The supplier said over 300 stock keeping units (SKU) incorporated environmentally friendly materials that conformed to the necessary ISO standards.

It planned to expand this to 50% of its 1,200 SKUs range over the next three years to further affirm its commitment to promoting responsible practices within the industry.
