Millmead Optical Group has achieved B Corp Certification in recognition of its commitment to incorporating more sustainable and socially responsible business practices.
Measures the company took included the installation energy-efficient LED lighting at its Liverpool facility, appointed a sustainability officer, reduced waste and minimised greenhouse gas emissions.
James Conway, CEO at Millmead, said: ‘Positive social and environmental impact is something that a growing number of customers and consumers look for in their products, and Millmead hope that this status will certify them as major industry frontrunners.’
Other initiatives included gifting reusable water bottles to staff, using waterless glazing machines, manufacturing rPet spectacles cases in the UK and launching its Cameo Sustain eyewear brand, pictured above.
