Three research teams have been awarded funding for studies on early symptoms and treatment of birdshot uveitis.
Fight for Sight and the Birdshot Uveitis Society have given funds to teams at King’s College London, UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and the University of Birmingham to research new electronic scanning devices, early-stage clinical monitoring and diagnostic testing.
Annie Folkard, one of the founders of the Birdshot Uveitis Society, said: 'It is so encouraging to see another three lines of research going ahead. Our fundraising for birdshot research really is beginning to make a difference. Results from these types of investigations will slowly but surely improve birdshot diagnosis, its treatments and its outcomes.'
