The final shortlist for the Optician Awards has been decided bringing to 10 the number of trophies up for grabs at our special black tie presentation.

The final shortlist for the Optician Awards has been decided bringing to 10 the number of trophies up for grabs at our special black tie presentation.

Winners in each of the categories will be revealed at a ceremony on April 25 at the Radisson SAS Hotel in London's Portman Square.

Around 400 guests are expected to attend the themed dinner which will feature top entertainment, a celebrity host, dancing and a charity casino.

The final shortlist to be decided is for the Contribution to CET Award sponsored by Dollond & Aitchison, and for the first time non-Optician articles were accepted for entry.

Those shortlisted are: 'Frequently - and not so frequently - asked questions' (Replay CD-Rom) by Dr Sue Blakeney; 'Contact lens materials part 1; Wettability' by Dr Karen French; 'Therapeutics - anterior eye disease' by Chris Hammond; 'Chloramphenicol' by Michael Johnson; 'Eyecare pathways part 1 - low vision assessment' by Dr James Wolffsohn and Professor Jonathan Jackson.
