An optician in Halstead, Essex was hit by two fires and a flood recently, when a blaze at an adjacent wine bar spread through the buildings.
Firefighters were called to the scene on Friday morning after a serious fire was reported. Seven crews were then able to get the situation under control and extinguish the fire.
However, just hours later, they were called out again after a second fire sprung up from undetected embers of the first, setting the roof ablaze. This then had to be removed by the authorities, causing widespread flooding.
Jonathan Foreman, director of Observatory Wardale Williams, said the community response had been fantastic, with staff and locals helping to repair the damage.
