A GOC fitness to practise hearing for Anthony Vaughan Jones will take place on March 20 after being deemed ‘guilty of deficient professional performance’ by the Council. The Council alleges that Jones’s fitness to practise is impaired because on January 6 2006, he examined a patient and failed to carry out indirect opthalmoscopy through a dilated pupil, failed to carry out a dynamic assessment of the anterior vitreous and did not perform a visual field test examination. He is alleged to have failed to enquire as to any recent ocular symptoms including flashes and floaters and did not sufficiently note details of the patient’s symptoms and history.
