Forums push business skills

Sight Care has launched a programme of regional meetings for its independent members which attracted over 350 attendees. The bi-annual meetings have been set up in nine areas, and the first round took place between the beginning of October and the end of November this year.

'Our objective is to give members a forum where they can learn new business skills, preparing them for the new millennium,' says chief executive Paul Surridge. The meeting comprised a presentation from Mr Surridge on market trends and preparing for change. He also introduced delegates to Sight Care's new initiative, a business excellence model, entitled 'Practice performance management'. Martin Russ and Tony Tindale of Total Marketing Resource, an optical training and marketing consultancy, also participated in the programme. The company has been working with Sight Care in developing training programmes for Sight Care's National Business Training Initiative, set to be launched in February 1999. The next round of Sight Care meetings is planned for May 1999.
