Fundraising by bike: Some 30 optometrists cycled 300km through western Ireland last month raising €10,000 for Optometry Giving Sight and the International Rotary Fund.
The money will help equip testing rooms in an eye clinic in Nampula, Mozambique, where local eye care professionals will be trained to examine patients and dispense spectacles.
'Thank you to all the cyclists from Wales and Ireland for supporting the ride,' said Aoife Phelan, member of Optometry Giving Sight in Ireland's national committee. 'Bar one puncture, the ride was a complete success, raising funds to give sight to those in need,' she added.
