The Eyecare Trust marked World Glaucoma Day (March 12) by launching a public information campaign highlighting the importance of diagnosing the condition before symptoms become visible.

The campaign 'Ignorance may be bliss, but it could leave you blind!' invites the public to take an online test to assess their risk of developing glaucoma - anyone at high risk of the disease will then be urged to take urgent action.

Trust chairman Iain Anderson said: 'An estimated quarter of a million Britons are living with undetected glaucoma. We hope that this campaign will help to raise the profile of the condition and encourage people to get their sight tested.'
