The General Optical Council (GOC) will be holding a six-month open consultation in March over proposals to the working of its revalidation scheme.

Through revalidation practitioners will be required to demonstrate, at regular intervals, that they remain both up-to-date with the GOC's standards as well as being fit to practise.

Stakeholders will be invited to comment on the GOC's proposals in regard to the publication of a recent Department of Health report on the scheme. The Council said details of the consultation would be released nearer the time and would be holding a number of other stakeholder events on the proposals in the coming months.
