The General Optical Council (GOC) held its last council meeting of the year on December, 11, 2024, where it approved its corporate strategy for 2025-30.

Council also approved the accompanying Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, subject to minor amendments.

Following a consultation on the draft strategy earlier in the year, the GOC considered feedback and made revisions, including adding details on how it planned to finance its strategic ambitions.

Council approved a £10 increase to the main registration fee, bringing it to £415, in line with inflation. The discount applied to the low-income fee was increased from £120 to £125, setting it at £290, while student fees were frozen at £30.
