Golfers fly in for the Classic

International Eyewear had to juggle flights, hotels, golf and hospitality for the 48 competitors entered in its annual Dakota Classic 2000 Golf Tournament last month.

The overall winner was Ian Flowers, followed by Wes Maginnis and Andrew Nugent. Michael Anderson recorded the 'longest drive', Jonathan Bryan got 'nearest the pin' and Peter Brogan was 'putting winner.' The Four-Ball Alliance was won by Stuart Shaw from Colin Rouse Opticians and Francis Wilson from Wes Maginnis. This year's tournament was held at world class courses in Dublin, the Portmarnock Golf Club and the 'K' Club, for the first time in its eight-year history. Flights from eight airports had to be synchronised to allow competitors to arrive and depart on time as well as enjoy three days' hospitality and two golf competitions.
