Haag-Streit has introduced the Perkins Mk3 hand-held applanation tonometer.

The Perkins Mk3 was designed and produced in the UK and includes enhancements such as an improved ergonomic hand-held design, an integrated rechargeable battery and improved internal LED illumination.

The Perkins Mk3 can use either reusable Goldmann tonometer prisms or Tonosafe disposable applanation prisms to minimise the risk of patient cross-contamination. The Tonogrip prism holder allows for straight-forward placement of sterilised prisms, providing safety and accuracy on contact.

Haag Streit said accurate assessment of intra-ocular pressure (IOP) was essential for the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and the Perkins series of hand-held tonometers correlate strongly with the industry gold-standard Haag-Streit Goldmann tonometer.
