Optometrist Zeki Dahir Ali will appear before the GOC fitness to practise committee on June 19.
The Council accuses Ali of deficient professional performance and alleges that when examining a patient on October 23 2004, he did not obtain an appropriate family history, did not take a full history of symptoms and did not perform binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy.
The Council also alleges that Ali did not dilate the patient, did not measure near visual acuity, did not carry out an Amsler grid assessment and did not refer. The optometrist is also accused of failing to attend a performance assessment as directed by the GOC.
