The communication minister Lord Carter's Digital Britain report has prompted the RNIB to call for a digital help scheme for radio users, similar to that used for the switchover to digital television (where financial help was offered to eligible households).

Lord Carter's report suggests the technical criteria for migration to digital radio should be complete by 2015 and the RNIB is concerned a switchover could lead to difficulties for visually impaired radio listeners.
