A Television crew from the BBC visited Algha Work’s east London factory recently to film a feature for The One Show on the history of NHS spectacles.

Host Angelica Bell discussed, with BOA Museum curator Neil Handley and Inpsecs business development director Jason Kirk, her memories of NHS glasses and how they had once again become popular.

‘In its heyday, the Algha Works factory, located in the shadow of the Olympic stadium, was producing 1.5 million frames a year for the NHS and employing over 300 people. There is currently a sense of tempered excitement as orders are increasing dramatically with the 'British academic' look striking a chord amongst fashionistas globally.
