The College of Optometrists has announced that deputy chief executive Ian Humphreys will become its new chief executive when current leader Bryony Pawinska steps down at the end of the year

The College of Optometrists has announced that deputy chief executive Ian Humphreys will become its new chief executive when current leader Bryony Pawinska steps down at the end of the year.

His appointment followed ‘a robust interview and selection process’, which began in March when the Pawinska revealed her plan to retire after 12 years in the post.

Dr Cindy Tromans said: ‘I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Ian as our new chief executive. Ian is passionate about the College and the profession, and truly understands the needs of our members, and that makes him the ideal candidate to take the organisation forward.
