It's been a landmark year, reports FODO

Collaboration of optical bodies has resulted in landmark developments for the profession over the past 12 months, according to the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians (FODO).

In its Annual Report 2013, FODO cited the confirmation of the Eye Health Indicator and the expansion of enhanced services as victories. The establishment of local eye health networks in each of the 27 England local areas, also created by the reforms, was expected by FODO to improve eye health outcomes.

FODO chair Jayne Rawlinson said: 'Using a collaborative approach through the Optical Confederation, we have been able to exert a significant influence on the NHS reforms in England - for the good of all. But we still have further to go as a sector.'
