Johnson & Johnson Vision Care has released its new 1-Day Acuvue Define contact lens in two variants for the UK optical market.
Define has been available in Asia for 10 years, and its wider UK launch in November follows an initial trial at Boots Opticians over the summer.
J&J said there was a price premium on Define, but it was ultimately up to the optical practitioners, who were also encouraged to offer a five-day free trial ‘eye experience’ for the new product.
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care general manager UK and Ireland David Hall told Optician: ‘Patients believe and trust in the recommendation of their eye care practitioner. When they get the product through an eye experience we haven’t had a huge amount of feedback that price is a particular barrier to adoption.
