Optometrist Christopher Kerr has been appointed as the BCLA's new conference scientific programme consultant. In his new role Kerr will assume responsibility for the development, planning and future implementation of the BCLA Clinical Conference programme from Jonathan Walker, who was recently appointed to a professional services post in industry after compiling the scientific programme for over 13 years.
Kerr joined the conference organising team as clinical adviser in 2008 and was a past president of the BCLA. Chairman and managing director of an independent practice in south London, Kerr was first elected to the BCLA Council in 1982 and has held several offices including honorary meetings secretary and honorary treasurer. He is currently chairman of the association's Ophthalmic Research Ethics Committee.
