Knife threat student is struck off by GOC

A student optometrist who terrorised female students at Aston University with threats of stabbing and mutilation has been struck off the student register by a General Optical Council disciplinary panel.

At last week's hearing the panel was told that Karampreet Singh Roewal, of Southall, West London, and a friend had gone to a women students' quarters with a knife on October 31, 2007.

The women living there had banned them from visiting the accommodation but at around 3am on November 2 Roewal and his friend returned and called out abusive names. Three of the women also heard Roewal make threats of mutilation.
